Father sharing a quiet cuddle with their newborn baby at home in Prestwich, Manchester

home is where

the heart is

My style of photography means there's no newborn posing beanbag, no stock piles of props, hats or bows, no posing of baby in baskets and no need to make sure baby is fed and fast asleep. I capture your beautiful baby just the way they are naturally  - snuggled up close up on your chest, held safely in your arms, awake, asleep, crying, curled up or outstretched. We take your baby's lead and together document your love, your connection, your bond.

Documenting your family at home,  in the place where they're surrounded by love, gives even greater meaning to the images we make. It's the place that sees your family grow and develop, the place that shapes them and gives them a sense of belonging.

By using the rooms in your home as a backdrop it also means you include so many more memories than a studio could ever offer you. From the inherited piece of artwork on the wall to the trinkets you've collected over the years, my sessions mean it's all included as part of your story.

working at your newborn's pace

Having newborn photographs taken at your home also means that your session is incredibly calm, relaxed and totally baby-led, giving you a wonderful opportunity to slow down and to simply be together.  There's no stress of rushing to a studio with a newborn, no stressful car ride or packing of the changing bag with the endless amount of things you need for just one outing. You'll have absolutely everything you need around you. And don't worry if baby needs to be fed or changed during the session as we'll just take a break.

If you want to capture the newborn sleepy stage, the best time to take photographs is when your baby is under 14 days old. I advise booking for 5 days after your due date and that sessions should be booked as early as possible after your 20 week scan.

What is the booking process if I don't know the exact date my baby will arrive, or how I'll be feeling?

01 book in your newborn shoot early

If you're pregnant, it's the right time to book. In fact, I always advise booking in once you've had your 20 week scan. I'll pencil you in around your due date as this ensures there is room for you in my diary.

You can fill in my contact form by clicking here.  I'll send you an email within 24 hours so we can arrange a phone call to pencil the date and discuss the finer details of what you would like from your session.

Once we book in a date, I'll send you the final bits to complete your  booking -  a contract, invoice and a quick questionnaire. This questionnaire is super helpful because it gives me an insight into your family and tells me what you're envisioning for the session.

02 contact me when baby arrives

Contact me when baby arrives and we can sort out a date that suits you - between midwife appointments and ensuring that you're feeling ready. I would rather you feel happy and settled rather than trying to fit it in right away just because you feel that time is running away from you. Within the first fourteen days is ideal for that super new, sleepy look but if you would prefer to wait a little longer for your baby to grow into themselves or for you to be more settled, that's totally fine with me.

03 photo time

Your session sees us spending a relaxed, easy hour or two together at your home. Every single session is baby-led and is unique to your needs because I want my work to tell your story and be documented in a way that represents you.

Once our session has ended I'll pack my bags and be on my merry way.

04 enjoy your beautiful images

Approximately 2-3 weeks after your session, you will receive a link to your private online gallery of fully edited images to view at your leisure and decide on which of the below collections to purchase.

All purchased images from your gallery are available to download as high resolution digital images and come with print and personal use release so you can share them with all your family and friends.

FAQ's

When is the best time to photograph a newborn?

If you want to capture the newborn sleepy stage, the best time to take photographs is when your baby is under 14 days old. I advise booking for 5 days after your due date and that sessions should be booked as early as possible after your 20 week scan. If you do miss this window it's still possible to capture some beautiful images so pease don't hesitate to get in touch with me.

Do you use props?

No, I don't use props at all. I capture your beautiful baby just the way they are naturally.

How do I book a photography session with you?

I advise booking newborn sessions in advance, preferably as soon after your 20 week scan as possible. Simply reach out to me through the website or email. I'll guide you through the process and book in various dates around your due date. Once baby arrives just give me a call and we can confirm a date.

What if my baby is unsettled on the day?

Don't worry at all. It's really not a problem as my sessions are super relaxed and my style of photography is very natural. Plus I always allow time to fit in feeds, nappy changes and lots of cuddles.

Where will my session be held?

All newborn sessions take place in the comfort of your own home. Documenting your family in the place where they're surrounded by love gives even greater meaning to the images we make.

What if my home isn't photo ready?

I never want you worry about the way you or your home looks as this is all part of your story. Your home sees your children develop and grow and gives even greater meaning to the images we make. My goal is to help you look back at your images in years to come and remember your family and home just the way it was.

What should I wear?

I always recommend keeping clothing simple and comfortable. If you can, please avoid bold stripes, checks, prominent logos or writing on clothing. Neutral, light colours or pastel tones usually work best.

How long does it take to receive the final edited images?

I understand the anticipation of seeing your final images. My editing process typically takes approximately 2-3 weeks, depending on the volume of images and the complexity of editing required.

How do I receive the digital images?

You receive high resolution digital images via a secure, online gallery. The number of images you receive depends on the package you choose.

What happens if me or one of my family are ill?

Please let me know as soon as possible if you or a family member are ill and we’ll simply re-arrange the session for another day. If you wish to cancel completely, cancellation fees apply.

What happens if I want to cancel completely?

Deposits are non-refundable or transferable in the event of cancellation by the Client.
